I have not read this book yet, but I heard that even just having it in my presence will bring me good energy, so I'm up for that. His face on the cover is a but intense. I feel like he's going to yell at me. Ha, any way, I love the message, and will cherish it always.

A great addition to non-duality teaching !

Essentially what this book does is break down Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings into small bite sized fragments and analyze them backwards and forwards. Advaita (non-duality)certainly isn't the easiest thing in the world to understand, add to that some of Nisagadatta's classic hindu and sankrit terminolgies and you can get very confused at times. That's just the nature of studying a Masterpiece like I AM THAT, it's deep and pure advaita right from India. So, Wolinsky's book is a great treasure as a kind of guidebook to I AM THAT. He's probably one of the most qualified americans to discuss the topic of Advaita & Nisagadatta's teachings.
The book has some nice exercises to "play" around with to get the teachings on a more experiential level so that it goes beyond just intellectual analysis.
It's not the easiest book in the world to understand. Not because of any flaw from Wolinsky, just the depth of this can be a bit tricky to grasp at times. Like I am That, this is a book to come back to over and over.BR>It will help bring your understanding of Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings to a new level.

Penetrating the Face of the Non-Dualistic Mind

This is an outstanding introduction to the life and teachings of a pivitol figure in 20th century Advaitic (non-dualistic) thought. It allows those interested in understanding Nisargadatta Maharaja's teachings (presented in numerous available publications) to systematically penetrate his various trains of thought by seminal themes. An added feature is the introduction of practical exercises for those desiring to look into the Reality that Nisargadatta presented to those able to encounter him while still alive, to do so for themselves in a simple and direct manner. Although the overall content of the work is excellent, it is however marred by poor editing (too many glaring typos for a published work); an obnoxious repetition of exercises with little variation, which could of been summarized in one or two chapters; and Stephen Wolinsky's constant insertion of his personal philosophical/psychological ideas -- Quantum Psychology. If the necessary editorial revisions were made and the personal philosophy left out of the book, it would be a gem. Maybe in a second edition?
P.S. For those interested in comparative thought, being thematic in presentation, it allows for many parallells to be drawn between Dzogchen, Mahamudra, Kashmir Shaivism, Zen/Ch'an, Ch'uan Chen Taoism, the Christian Saint Meister Eckhart, and Ramana Maharshi, etc. Nisargadatta was also linked to the tradition of Nath Yogins, a Pan-Indian Tantric movement stemming from the 9th/10th C. that had within its ranks the founders of many Mahasiddha linegages that are present in the Religious Traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, etc., which are still in existence today.

A book by its cover.

Its a beautiful book and looks good with my other collection of walkthrough books. That being said there are some glaring errors with certain parts of the book.

I'm trying not to spoil too much. Some of the "collectibles" for a certain most wanted mission, the descriptions of the places don't match the pictures given. And there's one certain scan-able area that isn't even in the area much less the picture shown that had me running to the internet. After wasting two hours of sniper shouting, building circling, glitch questioning madness.
Everything else looks good but I buy the walkthrough books so if I get stuck I don't HAVE to go on the internet.

I hope the people that got the kindle version got a better one than I did. Glad it doesn't make me mad to ink up the book putting in the right info.

Guide is okay, at best. Many mistakes and errors in it.

I've been a gamer all my life. I've bought literally hundreds of guides over the years and many of them have been BRADYGAMES guides. Just about every one of the guides I've bought have been great. However, this one fails pretty miserably. The guide for the most part is sound. The coverage of the Story Mode/Campaign is very solid. It's when it comes to the collectibles that the guide fails. There are many different side missions and collectibles in this game. The 'Enigma' side mission requires you to find 'DataPacks' throughout Gotham City. There are 200 of these DataPacks to find. The guide lists the locations and descriptions of all 200 of these DataPacks. The only problem is that only about 60% to 70% of the information is correct. About 30% to 40% of the pictures for some of the DataPacks are linked the the wrong description and vice-versa. To make matters worse, some of the DataPacks not only have the wrong picture with the wrong location description underneath them, but the descriptions are sometimes so vague that you're better off just trying to find the item on your own without the guide. The guide sometimes just confuses you more than you already are. It's just a mess. Whoever was in charge of quality control on this guide at BRADYGAMES seriously dropped the ball on this item. The guide is helpful but when you're paying this kind of money for something that's supposed to be providing you with information about the game and you get unreliable information, it's disappointing to say the least.

No issues on my end

I know other reviews are having problems with the kindle version, which is the same version that I am. I don't have a kindle hd (just a plain old kindle) so I'm using kindle cloud to read this. and I'm not having any issues making the screen bigger and its working perfectly for me. The guide is wonderful it will help to get all the collectibles and all the secrets hidden in this game. Also if you have purchased Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate there is a walkthrough section for that game as well (and its a good enough guide even though it really just explains the what each button does, and shows you a map of each location and where every item is etc, and a boss guide but no really written walkthrough for BLACKGATE) overall I would give this a 9/10

I have advised my students to avoid this text.

On marking student submissions on aircraft design projects last year, I came across a small number of peculiar anomalies, derived from references to an earlier text by this author. When I subsequently saw some more of the authors' work recently, I was horrified by how many factual inaccuracies even a small sample contained. I could not advise anyone to spend money on this book.

About the Author

A native of Venezuela, Valentina Harper is an artist and graphic designer based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her original prints, paintings, and drawings can be found in licensed consumer products, commissioned works, and her Etsy.com store. Valentina uses black ink and other mediums to create flowing, intricate, and highly detailed patterns. Her artwork is characterized by a fantastical, dreamlike appearance, expressed in digital drawings, mixed media, and pen & ink illustrations.

Great book! Images one per page with blank backs.

Great artist. Images are one per page, with blank backs. Still, use protection behind images to prevent bleeding onto next image. Great shapes and patterns that make shading fun and relaxing. I highly recommend any of Valentina Harper's adult coloring books.

Wish Perforations Were Better; Still GREAT!

I just posted a review for the "Creative Coloring: Animals" book, as well. This book is just as high-quality as that one. The only complaint I have, as in my other review, is the fact that the perforations are difficult to use. I wish that the book came as a set of loose-leaf pages in an envelope instead of as a book, since it's designed to let you pull the pages out easily and make copies (for personal use only, as per the copyright page!).

I love the positive messages on the pages! They're so much fun, and the balance of empty space and black-line doodles lets you try out lots of different coloring techniques, which are demonstrated in the book's opening pages, along with a brief introduction to color theory, and examples of different types of media and techniques on the designs. One of the high school art teachers I work with was impressed by these pages from an instructional standpoint.

Overall, I really like these to help me decompress after a long time spent focusing my mental faculties on difficult tasks, or as a conduit for helping me stay focused on movies or tv with my husband and friends (I have pretty intense ADD, so I fidget a lot).

Like I said at the end of my other review: buy this, make a copy of the pages you want to try out, and treat yourself to some high-quality colored pencils or markers (Prismacolor, Dick Blick, Sakura Gel Pens, etc.) and relive your childhood with some grownup flair! You'll love it!
