About the Author
Author of the Lost Immortals Saga and the Seraphine Trilogy. I'm also a mother, blogger, reader, gardener, home renovator, and a slayer of Egyptian mummies in Tomb Raider. I believe in karma, coffee, and seriously wish that the producers of Xena would bring my favorite show ever back.

Strange things about me: everything. I am strange, odd, unusual, and generally tend to make people think I swooped down from another planet. I don't know. Maybe I did. Who knows? I'm also a member of the #zombiesurvivalcrew on twitter. So if you need protection from the undead then don't hesitate to call on us.

I was born in the race-car city of Charlotte, NC, and now live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, NC, when I'm not hanging out in Bardonia (Lost Immortals). Most of my characters are based on people that I've met throughout my travels and adventures. People tend to stop and start conversations with me as if I've known them my entire life. Does this freak me out? Not really. My mom says that one day I'll get kidnapped by one of them. I told her that if it weren't for these lovely people then I wouldn't be able to create the stories that I do.

I have many favorite authors but there are some who truly rock my socks: Octavia Butler, Anne Rice, Kami Garcia, J.K. Rowling, Dean Koontz (on his good-book days), Stephen King (same as DK) Ann Radcliffe, Mary Shelley, Elizabeth Kostova, and so many more...

Some other common tidbits...hmm. I've watched the movie Under the Tuscan Sun almost 200 times. Seriously, the way I see it is if I keep watching it enough, then suddenly the house that Diane Lane lives in will magically appear in my backyard. I know. I have a huge imagination!

Disappointing read
By Tabitha @ Bows & Bullets Reviews
Caleb Wood has always been able to see the Walkers. He doesn't know what they are; he just knows that no one can see them except him. Then one decides to strike up a conversation with him and become corporeal and he can't help but obsess over her. Then creepier Walkers start turning up and everything gets out of hand.
I feel like I have really missed something in this novel. My sister absolutely adored it and I have read several other reviews of people raving about its awesome-ness, but I just don't see it. It took me a record amount of time to read this rather small book (almost a month) and the entire time I was forcing myself to go on and truly gearing up to write an overly insulting review and give the book a single star rating. I gave it 2 because right at the end (in the last 30 or so pages) the story truly got interesting. Reading this really made me consider starting a "did not finish" shelf because it was so hard to get through.
The truth? I'm just too tired and frustrated to write a bitchy review. Yes, I want to warn people that this book has major issues and they might be better off staying away, but my usual fire is gone. I think this novel had many problems, the writing, the characters, the stop and go plot, the whole enchilada basically. I start with the characters because that's what I `m best at.
First off, we have our main man, Caleb. The entire novel is told via his perspective and let me tell you that for the first time I would have rather it been in third person. Caleb's personality fell beyond flat and his voice felt very much like a woman desperately trying to be masculine. This is not just because the lack of swear words or his overly censoring of his naughty thoughts (though it probably contributed just a bit), the way he processed things and the fact that he was always on the brink of tears just felt feminine to me. And seriously dude, learn to curse like a big boy because "oh snap!" just doesn't cut it. Seriously, those words were on every other page and it was about as believable as Zoey Redbird saying "bull-poop" all the time.
Then there were the female interests. Yep, I said interests, so love triangle land it is. Gia, the Walker/Angel/Whatever, so is all over the place that you can't tell what the hell she wants. One minute she is saving Caleb and then next she is avoiding him, telling him that he needs to leave her alone. She makes me wanna sing Katy Perry ::sings:: `Cause your hot then your cold, you're yes then you're no::stops:: I hate Katy Perry. For being the main love interest, she sure was flaky as hell and I couldn't bring myself to root for them at all. I honestly wanted Caleb to just forget about her and be happy with Erica, if for no other reason than so I could stop listening to his inner monologue of "why can't I being with Gia? Why doesn't Gia love me? Whine whine whine." As you can guess, Erica is the other love interest. In the beginning, I really thought she was going to be the only one, but boy was I wrong. She's that popular girl with a sweet side, you know the caring cheerleader. Her character was a bit to clingy, trying to force Caleb to like her when it was clear that he was hung up on someone else. I gotta give her props for being patient, but she would have been better off with someone else.
Almost all the rest of the characters felt one dimensional and didn't really add much to the story. Caleb's friends, the other Walkers, the bad guy, all feel very flat to me, so I'm not even going to bother with talking about them. The writing style in this was choppy and the plot was slow. I felt like none of it flowed well. You'll get 200 pages of Caleb and Gia doing the whole on again off again dance that drove me absolutely bonkers, with Gia not revealing any real information about herself (so really, what is the attraction? Just because she's hot? Dude, stop being so shallow) and Caleb panting after her, while keeping Erica waiting on the sidelines. Then after that, we get just a little bit of stop and go action and then it ends with your typical cliffhanger.
Okay, so maybe I got a little rantey, but really, it's what I do. This novel was a big downer for me and I can't say that I'll recommend it to anyone. Those out there in interweb land, enter at your own risk. Maybe I missed something, but I really just didn't enjoy this and I definitely won't be reading the sequel.

Loved it!!
By Field Trip Mommy
My Review: Dark Seraphine was so super good! It had everything that it needed and it was fabulous!

From the first page of this book I was sucked in. Stuff was happening and KaSonndra Leigh just grabbed us and threw us into the book. This book sounded like nothing I had ever heard before and it was crazy awesome and good. The plot was very fast paced and there was never a dull moment, because something crazy is always happening that usually comes out of no where.

Caleb was a great main character. He was caught between a rock and a hard place for most of the book and he has his flaws, but that's what makes him such a great character. I loved how he knew he had flaws and didn't think he was perfect and above everybody else. Gia was another great character. She was always popping up at unexpected times and she had me guessing what she was until the end. The side characters all fit together well too, and they all had a story and they weren't just shoved into the story because more characters were needed.

I loved the romance between Caleb and Gia. It wasn't one of those insta-love things that happen a lot in Young Adult books now, and I'm glad it was something different. There romance just happened slowly and it gradually got stronger and I was cheering for them in the end. More YA authors need to create romances like KaSonndra Leigh creates hers.

The writing style of this book was great. KaSonndra Leigh creates great characters and keeps the plot going smoothly. There were sometimes that I was a little confused with what was going on, but usually it was easy to tell. She also makes the dialogue sound like normal teenage conversation, which some authors don't do which was great. I could actually imagine kids at my school talking that way.

Another brilliant read
By Adriana Noriega
irstly i would like to thank the author and amazing friend KaSonndra for giving me the honour of reading and reviewing your new amazing book once again you have created a must read series.

what can i say about the book created by the beautiful and talented mind of KaSonndra Leigh. This time KaSonndra took us into the mind of a 17 year old boy and there were times that i was laughing out loud.

Caleb is your typical 17 year old boy hormones and all but with a big twist he can see beings that he calls "walkers, he has never interacted with them in any way so when a gorgeous walker who he calls "gia" suddenly starts appearing out of no where and starts talking to him, he is more than a little interested, he feels a unexplained pull to her. But suddenly things start happening that do not normally happen like girls wanting to kill him which i found sort of funny lOL and a few other creepy things.

I loved it that KaSonndra let you feel how frustrated Caleb felt, at times he didnt know what the hell was going on, he felt so frustrated and you feel it right along side with him but it makes you keep on going to find out why this is all happening.

Once again KaSonndra has written another book totally diffrent from all the others she has written and has been sucsessful in creating a must read. She also knows how to make things spooky, and she also knows how a 17 year old boys mind thinks LOL. KaSonndra is a very talented wrtier and i will be reading anything she writes as i know that she can write a book in any genre and still make it a must read.
